Your total welfare assistance is determined by a number of factors, these factors include:

    * Basic Living Expenses

    * Total monthly income of household.
    * Whether there is a migrant or seasonal worker in the house.
    * The total rent/mortgage payment for the household.
    * 
The medical status of those living in the household.
    * Whether anyone in the household is pregnant (special considerations are made for those households caring for            expectant mothers).
    * Total utility bills for the Household.
    * All Minors are going to school full-time.
    * The recepient must be 18 years of age.
    * What is the total amount of cash assets available to the household, including checking and savings accounts.
    * Total amount of additonal household welfare benefits.
    * Total gross income for each family member.
    
* Any criminal convictions within the home.
    

Welfare payments are generally made on a monthly basis, during the first week of every month. It could be different depending on the state and what benefits you are applying for.

Remember that the application process is not instant. It can take several days to more than a month until assistance is received. Foods stamps, for instance, take a relatively brief 7 days, however other programs, such as child care assistance require 30 days between filing and the actual receiving of benefits. Other programs can take even longer so apply as soon as possible!
